Today I got invited to a media meet-and-greet / Q&A session with Buddy “Cake Boss” Valastro prior to his Italian-cooking demonstration @ Seneca Niagara Events Center later this month. Don’t get me wrong… I totally back Cake Boss (and any reality/food show having to do with cake for that matter), but I have no idea why a MUSIC critic is getting invited to cover this event.
That aside, I’m excited to FINALLY see a nearby venue utilizing a publicity manager and setting up events with the media. I wish more venues in Western New York did this. Then again… I suppose there isn’t much need for this sort of thing in a small market. Sure as fuck would make my “job” a lot easier if HSBC, Darien Lake, etc did meet-and-greet / Q&A’s with media. Then I’d never have to track down publicists for bigger acts and HOPE they reply/honor the request.
Hey venues! Anyone wanna hire me as your publicity manager? Just kidding…. maybe.
